1. The hurricane was pretty cool

The wind was blowing pieces of scrap metal, whole trees, and cows as I made my way to the shelter. Just as I got under cover, the hurricane destroyed my house. This was a very intense and exciting experience.

2. The whole class was bored.

As the teacher lulled on about the subject at the front of the classroom, my buddy Frank slightly nodded his head. We both looked up at the clock and watched the ticks go by which seemed like an eternity. Finally the bell rang and we jumped out of our seats and rushed the door to freedom!

3. I drove into a clown on the road.

Cruising down the street bumping Andre Nickatina on volume level 30 I swerved to avoid a pothole and heard a thud. As i got out I saw a horn and a wig on the ground. I looked at my car and saw a trail of blood coming from underneath. I got on my knees and realized that I had run over a clown!

Josh hooks the reader by telling us that his parents are talking and his dad seems upset. Josh realizes that his parents aren’t talking about the normal stuff that will affect his life like what college he will be going to. His dad is upset that his friends are turing towards the new technology world. He seems to think that we will have a dark and difficult future if we keep going where we are going. Josh says that his parents and grandparents have seen horrible things like “two world wars, killer flu, segregation, a nuclear bomb”.  After all these horrible things occurred, they were fixed. “The end of two world wars, the polio vaccine, passage of the civil rights laws” have resolved those problems. He uses these to show us that good can come from bad. If we persevere through the bad times we will see good times. Josh chose his title from what his dad used to tell him when he had a bad day. The title tells us to stick in there because we never know what lies ahead of us.

I thought that her essay was very well done. She used complex words and examples to get her point across. The examples were used well like how she likes the old dot on the movie screen and the country to show how unique and original she is. I think her point was to tell the reader that we don’t need technology to be functional. She is a writer but does not use a computer. She has experienced the new modern world but chooses to live her life the old fashion way.

My experience with writing has been bad. I’m not that good and don’t really like writing. I hope this class will make me a better writer and will prepare me for college. My only good experience writing was for my college essay. All I had to do was write about myself so it was pretty easy. The essay helped me get into the colleges I applied to. Last semester I had to write like I was a journalist but mostly I have had to write essay’s about books. I do not do any writing independently. Writing is a required part of the traditional skill because you use it in every day life like for jobs and writing essay’s in college. Teachers must help us in our writing structure.
